TopDog-V
TopDog-V
TopDog-V, introduced to the automotive aftermarket in 2014, has become a valuable tool among a wide variety of end users, ranging from serious off-road racers to small fleets, DIYers and daily drivers, and has been successfully used in other industries, such as farming, marine, and construction.
What Sets TopDog-V Apart in Oil FIltration?
Acknowledged by filtration experts at Parker-Hannifin, Donaldson Filtration Solutions, Amsoil, etc., TopDog-V stands out as a significant advancement in oil bypass filtration technology. Its easy installation, requiring no engine modifications, and unique patented architecture place it at the forefront of the oil filtration system market. The system's efficient design pushes finely cleaned oil directly to the engine gallery, optimizing engine performance and energy use.
FAQs
Oil bypass filtration is a process where a small amount of your motor oil is diverted into a secondary (in our case, a parallel advanced) filter, where very small, abrasive particles, far below the capacity of your full-flow filter to capture, are permanently removed. This simple, but powerful action significantly improves your engines performance without causing back-pressure, additive depletion, or other intrusive problems.
The cleanliness of your oil is directly related to your engine’s performance. Horsepower, mileage, emissions, and longevity are all affected. when abrasive damage from oil contaminants occur Finely cleaned oil is essential to attaining and maintaining the most efficient engine performance and achieving the greatest engine longevity.
Full-flow oil filters do well in capturing "rocks." However, when a filter media is too restrictive, the engine suffers from oil starvation; so the full-flow filter is designed to allow the smaller (and most dangerous) debris = <25* microns - to pass. SAE and other studies consistently show that almost 90% of premature engine/component failures are caused by debris about 10 microns and even smaller! By working slowly and thoroughly, very fine filtration, well below the 25 microns, is an ideal solution for trapping and holding these smaller contaminants. TopDog-V's advanced filtration approach works in conjunction with the full-flow oil filter, providing a more complete solution for preventing engine wear.
*A micron is a unit of measure; 100 microns is about the size of a grain of table salt.
Besides wear protection, the most important other benefits include better performance and fuel efficiency, lower emissions, longer engine life, and extended service intervals. Advanced (fine) oil filtration saves you time and money. In fact, payback can be in as little as 8-10 months. A typical sedan travels about 14,000 miles per year and gets about 18 mpg. In this example, assuming gas at around $4/gallon, TopDog-V will pay for itself in under a year. In about 5.5 years, TopDog-V can save up to 10 times its cost while adding to resale value. Also, cleaner oil and fewer changes results in a better environmental footprint.
As oil enters the lubricating system, a small amount is continuously diverted into the advanced filter which contains a much thicker media than a full-flow filter, where the oil is slowly ‘super-cleaned’. TopDog-V’s innovative piping uses a patented pressure differential to send the cleaned oil directly into the engine. This energy-efficient bolt-on system is easy to install. See picture below for schematic of the TopDog-V parallel-flow advanced oil filtration system.
No. The Federal Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act (15 U.S.C.§ 2301et seq.) states that no dealer or manufacturer can void a warranty because an add-on performance accessory has been installed. Simply put, the OEM is responsible for their work product and the aftermarket provider for theirs. Without this Act, you might not be able to buy aftermarket parts not made or endorsed by the OEM. These could include spark plugs, oil filters, headers, and so on. This only applies to US companies. Foreign customers should check if they have similar laws (many do). In any case, if your vehicle is under OEM warranty, follow the warranty guidelines regarding oil and filter changes, whether on not our system is installed.
Why Did We Call It TopDog-V?
TopDog-V came about because we recognized that, after performing its primary duty, trapping the smallest, most damaging abrasive contaminants that pass through the full-flow filter, the following key benefits occur:
Unfortunately, why we opted to use Roman Numeral "V" instead of the more easily identifiable "5" remains lost in antiquity.
