Despite all of its advantages, Phantom 10 is installed just like every other spin-on oil filter. Likewise, maintenance is also very simple. The mesh element slides out and can be immediately cleaned, or set aside while the replacement element is substituted. The unit can be cleaned with a commercial product or simply with a generic brand soap and soft bristle brush. The magnets are removed and cleaned about every three or four filter cleanings.
